i get a lot of questions about my hair, so i decided that it's time to address a few. i kept my hair shaved/low/tapered for about 2 years. what you see on my head now is growth from november 2015. that was my last shaved (almost bald) cut. it's been about 12 months from nothing to this.
now, to the good stuff. i do not have a strict hair regimen. there's a lot that i don't do to it anymore, actually. currently, my hair is the healthiest it's ever been with less manipulation.
what i don't do anymore:
henna. i was a heavy henna user when i had hair. little did i know, my hair hated henna and it caused brittle, dry, coarse, and undefined curls.
hair color. as much as i love a good dye job, my hair cannot take it. it breaks off whenever i use color. so, i stopped. i have a new found friend in hair chalk if i want to add a pop of fun to my strands.
excessive heat stretching. i have crazy shrinkage when my hair dries. so when i had hair years ago, much more than this, i was constantly stretching it with the blow dryer. needless to say, that left me with dry hair, split ends, and heat damage.
products that don't work. i was a product junkie. i still kinda am but with products, i KNOW work for my hair.
what i do now:
diffuse. my hair diffuser is my BFF! it gives me volume and fullness and keeps my curls defined. i use a silicone universal diffuser attachment.
hair foam vs. hair gel. foams and mousses work so much better for me than gels. they leave my hair feeling weightless. require less work when applying, and make the diffusing process faster. when i do use gel, i tend to reach for this and this.
LOC method. leave in - oil - cream. it works great for me when i air dry. you can read more about the method here.
pineappling. my hair is long enough for mini pineapple puff balls. so, at night, i section my hair and put them in mini ponytails to reduce smashed curls in the AM.
that is pretty much my routine! i hope this helps. if you have any additional questions leave them in the comments. :)
