reading is amazing! it enables us to escape, learn, dream, use our imaginations, expand our vocabulary and ultimately become better writers. books are a blessing, *insert praise hands here.* a lot of people ask me what I have in our little library at home, we have lots of literature. fiction + non-fiction alike. there's plenty I could share, but I decided to pick my top five favorite books that have really settled in my heart. a couple I have read more than once.
side note: you know you love a book when you can read, re-read and read again, and each time you encounter its words they leave you with a new feeling.
if I had to tell someone which two books to read first I would definitely choose ‘love you more’ and "the alchemist." while these books are different genres they are both destined to rock your socks. for my crime + suspense novel lovers, ‘love you more’ will leave you at the edge of your seat dying to know what is going happen at the end. I have read this book twice and am now taking it on for the 3rd time. months go by before I reread it but each time I do I am left shocked at the end. author, Lisa Gardener, has an array of books featuring lead character, detective d.d. warren, who is, in my opinion, such a kick ass lady. ‘love you more’ took me through a series of emotions. reading books that can tap into the soul and keep me wanting more are something I truly enjoy. this book was such a winner in my eyes that I had to have the hard copy. my kindle version just wasn’t cutting it. ‘love you more’ is highly recommended and definitely holds a forever spot on my favorite books ever list.
many people have read ‘the alchemist’ but every now and then I come across someone who hasn’t. immediately I start to rave about the book, it’s almost second nature. we have quite a few copies of the magical fairytale-like story in our bookshelf, two of which have beautiful cover art (anniversary editions). each time I read “the alchemist" I feel like I am being carried away into its pages. Paulo Coehlo does an amazing job at creating imagery for his readers. his books have been life savers for me, they are gems. I have a few and each one makes me feel amazing from start to finish. however, if you don’t get around to reading anything else by Coehlo, “the alchemist” should definitely be on your “books to read before I die” list.
avoiding the book section has been hard lately. whenever I go into Target, books-a-million or B&N there's no way I can leave without something new. recently I decided that I want to read at least 4 new books this summer. above are the ones I picked. last night I started reading "a little something different" which is super cute already. how the book is written is extremely unique and the storyline itself is quite lovely so far. I won't spoil it for you but the next time you are in target or a bookstore pick it up and see for yourself. oh and not to mention the cover art is beautiful and makes you want to fall in love 10x over. in reality, I have 51 books on my kindle so it may be hard to only read 4 but we will see what happens. regardless, I am beyond excited to dive into my new reads and share my thoughts when I'm done.
what are you reading this summer, or in general? leave some suggestions below.
